Analytical Services International (ASI) is a leading research and analytical laboratory specialising in the measurement of drugs and biologically active compounds using advanced analytical techniques, including chromatography, immunoassay, mass spectrometry and spectrophotometry.
We support an international client base across forensic toxicology, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM), and pre-clinical and clinical research. Our work contributes to healthcare, forensic investigations and regulated scientific studies carried out to the highest quality standards, including ISO 17025, Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
We are looking for a motivated, driven and organised Laboratory Technician to join our growing laboratory team.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a science graduate looking to begin or develop a career in a busy analytical laboratory. Working alongside experienced scientists, you will play an important role in supporting laboratory operations, maintaining quality standards and assisting with the analysis of biological samples.
The successful candidate will receive training in laboratory procedures and drug assay techniques while contributing to the smooth day-to-day running of our accredited laboratory.
Key Responsibilities
As a Laboratory Technician, you will:
- Receive, log and track laboratory samples using laboratory information systems.
- Assist with drug analysis and reporting following appropriate training.
- Prepare reagents, maintain laboratory stocks and organise consumables.
- Perform routine laboratory housekeeping and equipment checks.
- Ensure compliance with GLP, GCP, ISO 17025 and Health & Safety requirements.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Organise courier collections and process incoming deliveries.
- Support quality assurance activities, including internal quality control procedures.
- Respond to laboratory and customer enquiries by telephone and email.
- Work collaboratively with scientists, study directors and quality personnel.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, and eager to learn.
Essential
- Degree in Chemistry or a closely related scientific discipline.
- Have lived in the UK for a minimum of 5 years – this is to meet vetting requirements.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to follow written procedures accurately.
- Methodical approach with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn new techniques.
Desirable
- Previous laboratory experience.
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
- Experience working with analytical instrumentation.
- Experience in a regulated laboratory environment.
