Analytical Services International (ASI) is an established provider of bioanalysis and toxicology services, supporting justice, healthcare and scientific research for more than three decades. We combine advanced analytical technologies with the expertise of experienced scientists who are committed to delivering clear, accurate and meaningful results.
As part of Analytical Expert Labs group, ASI works alongside other respected forensic and analytical organisations, giving our clients access to a wide network of specialist knowledge while maintaining the personalised service and scientific rigour that define our work.
Our clients include law enforcement agencies, coroners, pharmaceutical companies, Contract Research Organisations (CROs), healthcare organisations and research institutions that rely on trusted analytical support to inform critical decisions.

Our Heritage
ASI was founded more than 30 years ago with a focus on improving the quality and reliability of toxicology and analytical science. Over the years we have expanded our capabilities to support a growing range of forensic, clinical and research applications.
Key milestones in our development include:

Establishing specialist expertise in forensic toxicology and clinical bioanalysis

Developing assays for complex small molecules and emerging therapeutics

Implementing advanced LC-MS/MS and high-resolution mass spectrometry

Started therapeutic drug monitoring and specialist assay development

Joining Analytical Expert Labs to strengthen collaboration and capability

Our Team
ASI is led by a multidisciplinary team of scientific and operational specialists who oversee our laboratory services, research programmes and quality systems.

Dr Lewis Couchman
Facility & Technical Research Director
Dr Lewis Couchman joined ASI as Facility Director in 2017 to lead a team of scientists with a passion for developing novel analytical techniques.

Jacqui Dokoupil
Managing Director
Jacqui joined ASI in 2016, to work with Finance related matters but the role quickly expanded to include Customer Service and Governance. Her role continued to evolve overtime and she now leads the service as the Managing Director.

Katie Lawlor
Laboratory Operations Manager
Katie Lawlor joined ASI as a Lab Technician in 2019. She previously led the Admissions Team and Therapeutic Drug Monitoring Department, and since 2022 has been in-post as Laboratory Operations Manager.

Gemma Coombes
Head of Toxicology
Gemma is our Deputy Head of Toxicology with over 10 years’ service. After working part-time at ASI during her graduate placement, Gemma completed her honours degree in forensic science and joined our team full-time in 2011.

John Slaughter
Senior Reporting Forensic Toxicologist
John is a well-recognised expert in toxicology with over 40 years’ experience and joined ASI in 2014 as Senior Forensic Toxicologist. He began his career in 1974 at the Metropolitan Police Forensic Science Laboratory (MPFSL) where, apart from a brief hiatus to complete his honours degree in chemistry, he became a forensic toxicologist.

Hannah Church
Forensic Toxicology Reporting Team Leader
Hannah is one of our Reporting Forensic Toxicologist Team Leaders after joining our in-house Reporting Toxicologist Course in 2021. Prior to ASI, Hannah obtained both a BSc (Hons) and MSc degrees in Forensic Science from Kingston University and since joining us, has achieved the Bond Solon (CUBS) Expert Witness Criminal Certificate.

Laura Baker
Forensic Toxicology Reporting Team Leader
Laura is one of our Reporting Forensic Toxicologist Team Leaders after joining our in-house Reporting Toxicologist Course in 2021. Prior to ASI, Laura worked in pharmaceutical research gaining analytical experience and holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Forensic Science and a Cardiff University Bond Solon Expert Witness Criminal Certificate.

Many of our scientists contribute to publications, conferences and research projects that advance understanding in bioanalysis, toxicology and related disciplines.
